In general, that feels like the legacy of the series - everyone went through great trial and turmoil and yet, they all have a chance to put their best foot forward now. You could argue that there is more that the series could have done building up the Dwight – Caroline family unit, but what matters the most here is that the two have a chance to move forward happy. They will never be the best of friends, but at the same time they may not be at each other’s throats anymore.Īs for some other news from the finale, Sam and Rosina are finally together and happy, Drake and Morwenna are expecting a baby of their own, and Caroline showcasing her bond with Demelza. Ross’ greatest enemy became his savior and, on the other side of it, it feels like the two moving forward could have a rather different relationship. In the end, Ross did reveal the truth, but also landed himself in a great deal of peril - so much so that he needed the help of one George Warleggan to save him. Was this a man willing to betray his own friends and loved ones?
His relationship with Demelza went into peril (again), and we as viewers were left reasonably in the dark as to what Ross’ real intentions were. What was surprising, however, was what happened along the way. He wanted to know what they were looking to do in England and, in the end, his mission of espionage was successful. Remember, the series finale started with a time jump of several months and Ross orchestrating a ploy to get close to the French - something that he was doing only for the purpose of spying on them.
